An Extremely Quiet Day at Bay High

More than half of Bay High School students stayed home Friday amidst the threat of gang violence on their campus, but Bay High officials were ready for any sort of violence Friday.

Extra Bay County sheriff's deputies and Panama City police patrolled the hallways and the streets in and around the school.

School administrators say this was a rumor that got out of control, but some students who stayed home Friday told NewsChannel Seven it was better safe than sorry.

This all apparently started with a fight over a bandana earlier this week. The students involved are allegedly member of rival gangs. Some were quoted as saying they would return Friday with guns.

School officials say all the students responsible for that fight have been dealt with.
