Sprint Mobile Communications laid off 60 customer service agents Friday from their jobs at the calling center on Richard Jackson Boulevard.
Sprint officials say the move was due to a change in their organizational structure.
The people who lost their jobs were special customer service agents who help customers set-up service and handled common issues with new phones.
Those tasks will be transferred to other call centers in other parts of the country.
Before Sprint merged with Nextel, the call center was one of Bay County's largest employers, with more than 1,000 workers.
A little more than 300 employees remain at the Panama City Beach location.
