Earth Day is officially back in Bay County.
The day-long event at McKenzie Park featured vendors, environmental groups and music, all promoting conservation. Several eco-friendly appliances were even on display, including a solar oven.
Organizers expected to see about 1,000 people at the festival by the end of the day. The last Earth Day celebration in Bay County was held in 1997, and event organizers say it was time to do it again.
Henry Lawrence says, “Lot of good things going on here, a lot of good people, it’s just a great opportunity to bring the community out and to recognize mother Earth at least one day of the year for all that she gives to us.”
Earth Day is actually on April 22, but organizers wanted to hold the event during the weekend, allowing more people to attend.
