A Bloody Week on Northwest Florida Highways

A weekend accident on Interstate 10 brings the number of people killed in area traffic accidents to six in just four days.

The latest mishap occurred on I-10 between Defuniak Springs and Crestview. A Jacksonville man died when a tire separated on his Ford Explorer SUV. The tire issue was a big one for Ford SUV’s for a number of years.

Thirty-year-old Clover Wright died from his injuries. Two passengers, an eight-month-old baby and a 25-year-old man, were reported to be in good condition.

After the tire on their SUV separated, the vehicle ran off the roadway, overturned and came to rest on an embankment.

In less than a week, five other traffic deaths have occurred in this area, three at Crestview, one on the U.S. 331 Bridge in Walton County, and one just north of Mexico Beach near the Bay-Gulf County line.
