Sex Case Leads to High Speed Chase

A Panama City man is accused of leading police on a high-speed chase through the city Monday night.

A Bay County Judge set bond for 40-year-old Timothy Lee Matthews at $31,500. Panama City police arrested Matthews around midnight Monday night.

Officers say the suspect led them on a chase from the marina though downtown Panama City and into the Cove neighborhood where he was finally stopped.

Initially, a police officer approached Matthews’ parked car and saw him with his pants down around his ankles, performing a sex act on himself.

When the officer tried to arrest him, Matthews drove away, coming close to hitting an officer.

Other offers joined in and used spike strips to flatten Matthews’ tires as the chase went through the Cove section of town.

He’s being charged with aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, lewd and lascivious exhibition, DUI, fleeing and eluding an officer, and resisting arrest without violence.
