FCAT tests are taken once a year in the state of Florida, and once a year, students as well as teachers and schools are evaluated by the results.
This year, Okaloosa County schools had the highest academic performance in the state.
Butler Elementary School has also gotten some scores in. Despite past controversy over the necessity of the test, many teachers say it is an important test to take.
The tests mirror the Sunshine State standards, and teachers and faculty assess the improvements each year so that no child is left behind.
