Thursday, NewsChannel 7 first brought you the story of a 36-count Judicial Qualification Commission complaint against Circuit Judge Richard Albritton.
The complaint, filed with the Florida Supreme Court, details incidents of alleged insensitive conduct toward minorities or women.
We have more information on what promises to be a lengthy prosecution process. The 15-member JQC makes recommendations on judicial discipline to the Florida Supreme Court.
Of the 11 judges now under prosecution by the JQC, seven have had their cases last more than a year, and two of those cases are more than two years old.
Albritton's case could take a long time to resolve because there are 36 claims and a number of alleged victims.
Since the state formed the commission 35 years ago, it's disciplined 86-judges. Only 14 were removed from the bench. That bodes well for Albritton.
On the other hand, this complaint comes just one year before he's up for re-election. The last time a Bay County judge was disciplined was the late Fred Turner more than 20 years ago.
