If you're looking for a good deal on a horse, you may want to head to Jackson County this weekend.
The Bureau of Land Management put close to 100 wild horses on display earlier Friday at the Jackson County Ag Center in Marianna. The horses will be auctioned off this weekend as part of the National Wild Horse and Burro Program.
The program ensures that the number of free-roaming animals is consistent with the land's capacity to support them. It's organizers say it's also a way to finds the horses a good home.
Marty Neugebauer, Program Specialist, says, "We have a lot of people that use them for trail riding. We have some that use them for team roping and horse shows. A few of them will take them in parades and stuff and show them off. We've had quite a few success stories with this program."
The auction will start Saturday morning at 10:30 until 5 p.m. and will open again on Sunday at 8 a.m. until noon.
