The Florida Lottery announced Thursday that one lucky player matched all six winning numbers in the Wednesday, May 11, Florida Lotto drawing and will win an estimated $27 million jackpot.
And the winner is apparently a group of employees from a local medical clinic who run their own lottery pool.
The group of nine, most of whom work at a particular clinic, have played the Lotto every week for five years.
They are heading to Tallahassee tomorrow to claim their prize, which after taxes, works out to be about $1.1 million per person.
The winning $27 million ticket was sold at the U-S Outlet Store on Highway 22 in Callaway near Star Ave.
The employees were shocked when our crack investigative team called them this afternoon. It was supposed to be hush-hush.
We have agreed not to reveal their identities and where they work until they claim their prize at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee tomorrow.
