Staring next fall Bay County public school students will most likely wear uniforms to school.
The Bay County School Board voted unanimously Wednesday night to design a uniform dress code policy for area schools, and they’re putting a rush on it.
School Board members are hoping to set up the standards in time for parents to buy their children the new uniforms during the next tax free back to school shopping days late in the summer.
Surprisingly, only one person spoke out against school uniforms in the Wednesday evening meeting.
Steve Pitts told the board, “There is something we can do now. We need to enforce the dress policies we have.”
School officials are looking at a simple uniform of khakis and polo shirts. They will decide the specifics at a special meeting on June 6 at 5 p.m.
