Two people are safe thanks to the quick action of the U.S. Coast Guard and Panama City Beach police.
The two, a 35-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman whose names were not available, got into trouble while swimming Wednesday night the Gulf of Mexico behind Quality Inn on Front Beach Road. That’s about a mile east of the City Pier.
The duo had drifted over 300 yards from shore.
The Coast Guard launched a 25-foot rescue boat and was on the scene within 15 minutes. They spotted the two swimmers clinging to a boogie board and plucked them out of the water.
Both swimmers are fine and were brought to shore by the Coast Guard.
