Dozens of old, rundown motels at Panama City Beach have gone the way of bulldozers, but one still stands in the Lakeview Drive neighborhood of the beach, and for the time being, it will remain.
The Panama City Beach City Council didn’t even get to vote Thursday afternoon on a proposed re-zoning request that would have allowed developers to build a 13-unit town home complex.
The plans had some neighbors cheering and others worried about the future of their neighborhood.
Both sides agree the old Lakeview Villa motel should be torn down, but they can’t agree on what should replace it.
A standing room only crowd of more than 100 people were on hand for the Beach Council meeting.
For now, the issue is dead and the Lakeview Villa motel will remain standing.
