A father and son were soaring through the skies together on a Sunday afternoon, but something went wrong. The single engine beach model plane crashed into the swampy waters in Walton County.
The father, 51-year-old Dale Allen of Friendswood, Texas, died instantly. His son was able to call 9-1-1.
Paramedics airlifted him to a nearby hospital. Neighbors nearby heard the crash, but weren't quite sure what it was.
Now these quiet swampy waters are filled with diesel fuel from the wreck, and the 14-year-old boy from Texas has lost his pilot. The teenage boy is at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola and is listed in guarded but stable condition.
