Annual Azalea Trail Takes Place in Panama City

Each of the Azalea Trail hostesses, decked out in antebellum dresses, competed for the title of Miss Azalea Trail Queen at the Panama City Garden Club Sunday afternoon. The teens were escorted by members of the Bay High ROTC.

Judges narrowed the field down to five finalists. At the end of the ceremony, Sarah Beth Gerlecz was crowned the 2008 Azalea Trail Queen. She will represent the Garden Club in various events throughout the year. Gerlecz is carrying on a family tradition, as her mother was Azalea Trail Queen 35 years ago.

"All of the girls are so beautiful. Really, every single one of them deserve it. I was really excited, but I couldn't say I was expecting it. It was a surprise to me," said Sarah Beth Gerlecz, 2008 Azalea Trail Queen.
