The following roads / bridges are closed in Northwest Florida due to
Hurricane Dennis.
· Bob Sikes Bridge to Pensacola Beach closed due to winds
07/09/2005
· Canal Bridge to Perdido Key closed due to winds 07/09/2005
· I-10 Escambia Bay Bridge closed due to winds 07/10/2005
· Apalachicola Bay Bridge closed due to winds 07/10/2005
· I-10 in Santa Rosa County from SR281 to County line closed due to
winds 07/10/2005
· I-10 in Escambia County from County line to US90 closed due to
winds 07/10/2005
· St. George Island Bridge closed due to winds 07/10/2005
· US 98 in Franklin County from St. James to SR 65 closed due to
water on road 7/10/2005.
. Bay County Roads 2301 in Bayou George and County Road 2302 st
Southport are both closed.
Effectively immediately this is a curfew issued for everything south of the White City Bridge in Gulf County. This includes all of Port St. Joe, Highland View, St. Joe Beach, Beacon Hill, Indian Pass, Simmons Bayou, Jones Homestead and Cape San Blas. County officials say there are numerous trees and power line sdown through the area and it is too dangerous to have people on the roads.
Mandatory curfews in Bay and Jackson Counties have been cancelled.
Franklin County has a mandatory curfew in effect tonight until surise tomorrow.
A 6 PM to Dawn Curfew is in effect from Okaloosa County until further notice.
Walton County has an 8 PM to dawn curfew until further notice
Bay County Red Cross Shelters are open. Merritt Brown Middle School and Tommy Smith Elementary school in Bayou George will serve as a general population sheltesr. Deane Bozeman Learning Center on Highway 77 in the Sand Hills area will be a special needs shelter for people who have pre-registered

In Walton County, Sacred Heart Hospital of the Emerald Coast is closed. The Destin Urgent Care center on Highway 98 is also closed. Healthmark Regional Medical Center in DeFuniak Springs will remain open.
In Franklin County a mandatory evacuation order has been issued for all barrier islands, including St George and Dog island, Alligator Point, All low lying areas and all mobile homes. There are no shelters in Franklin County.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office is suspending all alcohol sales in the county starting at 2:00 a.m. Sunday
Smurfit-Stone's Panama City Mill will curtail operations at 7 p.m. Saturday due to Hurricane Dennis. Employees scheduled to report after that time should not do so until further notification.
The 325th Fighter Wing commander at Tyndall has issued an evacuation order for all personnel living on Tyndall AFB and off base personnel living in mobile homes due to Hurricane Dennis. Other off base personnel are authorized to evacuate, and are ordered
to evacuate if directed by local civilian authorities.
SunTrust Bank announces that effective Saturday, July 9, 2005, ATM surcharges will be waived in the following counties: Bay, Jackson, Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa and Walton. This is being implemented to allow the public to gain access to much-needed money during and after the impact of Hurricane Dennis. This offer is available at all SunTrust ATMs in northwest Florida.
Wellstream will resume its operations Monday Morninbwith the first shift
Alliance Laundry Systems Plant will shutdown for the day shift on Monday. The night shift Monday should report to work at the normal time.
Trane has cancelled all operations on its third shift on SundayThe status of Monday operations will be posted on the company's emergency line at 800-842-1958.
Century Boat Co. is closed until Tuesday.
Employees of Dozier School for Boys in Jackson County WILL report to work tomorrow (July 11, 2005)
Honeywell manufacturing operations in Lynn Haven is shut down. Work will resume at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
Florida State University's Panama City Branch Campus will be closed through Monday.
Gulf Coast Community College's campus and centers will be closed through Monday
Troy University's Campus at Tyndall will be closed through next Monday.
The Bay County Humane Society shelter is at full capacity and can not accept any more animals.
Bay County Tax Collector's offices will be closed Monday and will re-open Tuesday after assessing the condition of all four offices.
The Workforce Center at 625 Highway 231 is closed until Tuesday morning.
All VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care Services at the Panama City Outpatient Clinic are suspended until Next Tuesday, July 12th.
All Girl Scout Camps in the area scheduled to start Monday are being postponed until further notice.
The St. Andrew Community Medical Center, the free health care clinic will be closed Monday due to the storm.
All six campuses of Okaloosa Walton College will be closed until next Tuesday.
All tolls have been suspended on the Mid-Bay bridge running from Destin to Niceville.
In Walton County there's a mandatory evacuation of guests and residents, including RV parks and mobile home parks south of State Road 20 to the Gulf.
The Choctawhatchee Bay Bridge on US 331 has been closed as winds reached 40 mph. This is the ONLY north-south highway in Walton County.
The Freeport High School is open as a Shelter in Walton County. There is a non-Red Cross shelter in Building Two of the Okaloosa Walton branch campus in Defuniak Springs.
Destin Water Users, Inc. and South Walton Utility Company, Inc. are taking action to minimize any potential impact to the water systems as Hurricane Dennis continues its approach. It is anticipated that water service will be maintained during a Category 3 or lower storm, however, there could be some isolated outages in the areas most susceptible to storm surge. If the storm comes ashore in the Destin area as a Category 4 hurricane or higher, both utilities plan to shut off water service until the storm passes.
West Florida Electric Cooperative says its crews are ready to make repairs and restore service following Hurricane Dennis. West Florida Electric Cooperative customers can report service problems and downed power lines by calling 1-800-342-7400.
Calhoun County commissioners are urging residents of mobile homes, RVs and sub-standard housing to begin evacuating immediately.
Washington County has advised residents of low lying areas and mobile homes to evacuate. Traffic on Highway 77 and 79 through Washington County is very heavy. Chipley High School will open Saturday afternoon as a general population shelter
In Liberty County, W.R. Tolar School is openas a Special Needs shelter.
In Holmes County, there is a voluntary evacuation for residents living in mobile homes, sub-standard housing and low lying areas. Two shelters are open: Poplar Springs High School and Bethlehem Baptist Church.
In Walton County all sheriff's deputies havebeen mopved out of the south end of the county and have been moved to north of the bay. South Walton Fire Stations #1 and #2 have been relocated to the E-M-S station in DeFuniak Springs. And, the tri-village fire department, which serves the Choctaw Beach area, has been re-located to the Freeport Fire Station until after Dennis passes through the area.
