Hurricane Brings Community Closer

It's been a tough few months for Judy Curtis. She broke her leg, her mobile home was smashed by a hurricane and her insurance is not paying for most of her health costs or the storm damages, but all that's still not getting her down.

Navarre Beach is one of the worse hit places left behind by Hurricane Dennis.

Most stores are still closed and many gas pumps are still down, but it's friends and family that keep things running, like Joan, who drove all the way from Texas to help Judy prepare for the storm.

In Okaloosa County, cleanup crews are out and about, road crews are trying to get Highway 98 drivable again, and people are giving away water and ice for free. And in times of crisis, it's nice to know you have someone to lean on.

Santa Rosa County officials have blocked off the Navarre Bridge due to all of the downed power lines in the area. Navarre Beach remains under a 6 p.m. curfew.
