Bay County political activist Kevin Wood is free on bond after being arrested for DUI and being sprayed with pepper spray.
Authorities stopped the 51-year-old Wood at Highway 231 and Transmitter Road Tuesday night on suspicion of DUI. A Bay County sheriff's deputy arrested Wood after he reportedly refused to take a Breathalyzer test.
Once at the Bay County Jail, Wood allegedly refused to give jailers any information, became rowdy and belligerent, so correctional offers pepper sprayed him.
Wood collected 15,000 votes when he ran for Bay County Clerk of Circuit Court five years ago.
