Panama City Airport Board members discussed updates today to the relocation project among them was a high tech security monitoring system.
The new system will feature two interlocking security systems controlled by the navy and one system controlled by Panama City.
According to officials, it's supposed to provide airport personnel real-time security monitoring in the event that something major were to happen.
"This provides basically using the airport as a test bed for newer security technology primarily involving the perimeter and the airport," Airport Director Randy Curtis said.
Board members say the work on the new airport is ahead of schedule. Over 700,000 acres have been cleared so far.
