The IRS is calling it "Super Saturday" and it all begins this Saturday at 9 a.m. and lasts until 3. The office is at 651 West 14th Street, just east of Florida Avenue.

It's a day geared towards helping those who normally do not file a tax return but need to in order to receive an economic stimulus payment.

Carol Sizemore, IRS representative, said, "Unless they file this tax return, they will not get the payment, the 300 dollars or whatever amount that they should have. So it's very important to get the news to them to file, and we're glad to help them, ‘cuz it's really a simple process."

So if you receive social security, some veterans' benefits, railroad retirement, or are a low income worker, you may be one of those persons.

Some items you need to take with you to the IRS office Saturday include a photo ID, verification of social security number, monthly benefit statements or income statements, and your bank account information.

There are also a couple other things you should know.

"The IRS will not call you on the phone and it's not going to e-mail you in regard to this. These are scams."

"Getting this refund, this stimulus payment, will have no effect on your social security benefits or VA benefits. It's not going to be taxed to you."

Starting in May these stimulus payments will be sent to more than 130 million Americans, and many taxpayers think they're a good thing.

Stacy Corbewt, a taxpayer, said, "I tell you the truth. It's a big help to a whole lot of us. Spend it buying food and gas and Medicaid, prescription drugs. You know, it ain't gonna last too much long."

IRS offices will also be open Saturday, April 12th from 9 to 3. Starting Monday, March 31st, office hours will be extended an hour later in the afternoon.
