Troubled Swimmers Keep Rescuers Busy

South Walton Fire and Rescue personnel had to help four swimmers Tuesday afternoon just west of the Ed Walline Park.

Fire Rescue Deputy Chief Sean Hughes says the four were swimming in the same area and got into trouble in the Gulf waters almost simultaneously.

Hughes says one of the four was hospitalized. The other three were all treated and released at the scene.

Meanwhile at Panama City Beach, a 49-year-old vacationer was hospitalized after he had to be pulled from the Gulf in the Long Beach area.

Red flags are flying in both counties, although some officials say it wasn’t that rough Tuesday as compared with earlier this week.
