Two Area State Parks Damaged and Closed by Hurricane Dennis Are Reopening

Florida’s Department of Environmental Protection Thursday opened St. George Island State Park for day use visitation. The park provides visitors access to beaches, bayside picnic areas, restrooms, picnic tables and grills.

Until further notice, daytime fees have been waived. The park suffered heavy damage from Hurricane Dennis’ storm surge. Some repairs have been made. The campgrounds and access to the east end fishing area remain closed.

Also Thursday, DEP reopened Bald Point State Park at Alligator Point. It offers a multitude of land and water activities. Bald Point is fully open and operational.
