Beach Looks at its Own City Marina Possibilities

Panama City Beach is known for its pristine waters and the Beach City Council is trying to make them more available to the public.

In Thursday's meeting the council members will propose exploring the possibility of building a Beach City Marina. The idea is to work with the St. Joe Company build the marina somewhere on the West Bay side of Panama City Beach.

It’s a long-term project and the council members want to nail down a location and work out the details from there.

Beach Councilman Ken Nelson says the idea would be to lease the property from St. Joe and use grant money. The two possible marina sites, both on West Bay, are right behind Frank Brown Park or it the West Bay Community itself.

Nelson says he's scheduling a top level meeting with The St. Joe CEO in Jacksonville to discuss the issue.
