Two Accidents, Two Fatalities Within Three Hours in Walton County

A Panama City Beach family is mourning the loss of one of their sons.

Local businessman Kevin Miller was killed in a traffic accident late Wednesday morning in north Walton County. It happened around 10 a.m. on State Road 20 several miles west of Ebro.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Miller was driving west and cross over the center line and hit a dump truck nearly head on.

Miller's brother was driving just ahead of him when the accident happened.

Paramedics airlifted Miller to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola where he was pronounced dead.

Miller is the stepson of Panama City Beach City Manager Richard Jackson. He leaves behind a wife, three-year-old son, and a stepdaughter. He used to be an assistant baseball coach at Gulf Coast Community College. He was the second person to loose a life on a Walton County roadway Wednesday.

A mother and her son were involved in a crash around 7:00 a.m. on State Road 81 near Ponce De Leon.

Troopers say the mother, Angela Norsworthy Smith, 29, of Westville was killed. Her son, four-year-old Johnny Smith, is in critical condition.

Troopers say the woman's car drifted across the center line into the opposite lane of traffic when she collided with a truck driven by a Pensacola man. He was not injured.
