It may look like a simple "snip" of the scissors, but Friday's ribbon cutting at the Hammock Place apartments is much more.
It symbolizes a cut in rent, a cut in utilities, and a cut from the overpriced housing units that have inundated our area.
Pinnacle Housing Group developed the 132-unit complex, located off Minnesota Avenue in Lynn Haven. They come with all the amenities of a regular rental, but rent starts at just $210 a month, which gives people with modest incomes a major break.
Community leaders recognize the importance of this project. Developers say this housing unit gives people a chance to live in luxury without the loot, homes that residents can call their very own.
All of the units at Hammock Place are currently rented, but Pinnacle Housing Group plans to break ground on other similar complexes in the future.
