A mock disaster drill at the Panama City Airport Friday drew lots of attention and those taking part got a good deal of training.
Some 55 volunteers took part to help make the “disaster” as realistic as possible. Bay High School drama students played the part of injured passengers in a plane crash.
Rescue workers jumped into action helping the “victims” while also containing a fire.
In the middle of all of this, another simulated plane crash occurred.
Leaders of the exercise say they were happy with the teams’ performance.
“I thought we did really good. We got the fire knocked down quickly and we got all of the victims taken care off very quickly, so overall, we did very well.”
The rescue workers move slower than normal in an exercise like this to make sure no one gets a real injury.
