The heat is taking its toll on everyone, including the local military.
Routine training exercises in the Silver Flag area of Tyndall Air Force Base were interrupted Thursday morning after 11 people were overcome by the extreme heat.
Tyndall Air Force Base officials say they are doing everything possible to monitor their staff to make sure they are properly hydrated.
Still, 11 men involved in Thursday’s exercises were treated by Bay County EMS paramedics for heat related problems. Five were admitted to a Panama City hospital for treatment.
Tyndall leaders say effective immediately they are limiting the time personnel can be outdoors. It’s 15 minutes outside and then 15 minutes inside.
