Judge Albritton Denies Three Dozen Allegations

Area Circuit Judge Richard Albritton Tuesday filed his response to 36 charges that he violated the Code of Judicial Conduct.

The charges were raised by the Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission. In denying the violations, Albritton said in 25 of the charges they wouldn't have been violations of the code of judicial conduct, even if they had occurred.

The 36 formal charges against the Panama City judge range from unprofessional conduct to inappropriate comments made towards women and minorities.

Albrittion was first elected to the bench in 2000 and served in Jackson County for several years. That's where a number of the complaints originated.

Possible penalties if Albritton is found guilty on the charges include reprimand, a fine, suspension with or without pay and/or removal from office.
