We now know more about the futures of the first two defendants in the Desmond Ray murder case.
Brothers Brayun and Eric Richardson both entered pleas of no contest Monday to charges of conspiracy to commit murder. They are two of the five suspects in the shooting death of 14-year-old Desmond Ray.
He was shot to death outside the Pana Villa Garden Apartments in St. Andrew three years ago.
Prosecutors say it was Eric Richardson who had the initial confrontation with Ray the day before he was killed, but he was not present at the murder.
They say Brayun Richardson was in the car with the other three suspects when they went to kill Ray.
Those three suspects, Ben McDonald, Mikhal Forbes and Darren McClendon are all being held without bond pending their trials.
The state is recommending Brayun Richardson receive probation, in exchange for his testimony against those three. Eric Richardson could get two years in prison.
Each could have received up to 30 years.
Circuit Judge Don T. Sirmons set sentencing for August 10 so Desmond Ray’s mother could attend.
