Lunchtime Crash During First Day of School Kills a Local Teenager

It's a scene we've seen all too often. Over the past few years there seems to have been a student death at Mosley High School every single year.

This school year isn't going to be any different, as a student was killed on the very first day of school Thursday.

A two-vehicle crash during the noon hour Thursday killed one teenage girl and seriously injured another.

The mishap occurred at 24th Street and Highway 77 near the Lynn Haven Post Office.

Both girls were riding in the same car which was t-boned, or struck in the side, by another vehicle.

Initial reports say the two girls, Emily Tuthill and Jessica Brown, both 17 years old, were on a lunch break from their first day back at Mosley High School. They were turning off 77 onto 24th Street when their car was struck in the side by a large vehicle.

Tuthill, who was the passenger, was killed instantly in the crash. Brown, the driver, was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

Mosley will have grief counselors on hand Friday to help the students cope with the loss.

Lynn Haven police are continuing the accident investigation.
