A Walton County man is now facing vehicular homicide charges from a fatal wreck back in April.
Florida Highway Patrol Troopers have arrested 56-year-old Thomas Jay Hicks.
Investigators say Hicks was driving south on the Clyde Wells Bridge on US 331 across Choctawhatchee Bay. He lost control of his truck, crossed over the center line and hit an 18 wheeled semi-tractor trailer rig.
The impact knocked the big rigs cab off the bridge. The driver, 52-year-old Randall Sterling, was thrown from the cab and died at the scene.
Troopers say Hicks' truck had a number of problems and he was driving negligently. He was booked into the Walton County Jail in Defuniak Springs.
