Panhandle Lawmaker's Widow Says She Will Run for Re-election

Marti Coley of Marianna, who won a special election in June to fill her late husband's seat in the Florida House, has announced she will run for re-election.

David Coley died of liver cancer in March, less than four months after he was elected.

Marti Coley, a 44-year-old Marianna Republican, defeated 62-year-old Democrat Carl Duncan in a June special election for the district that includes portions of Leon County and extends to eastern Okaloosa County.

Duncan, who also lost to David Coley last year, has filed his campaign papers for the 2006 election as well.
