A Southport family will be looking for some temporary housing after a late morning fire.
Flames gutted the home on Edwards Road just east of Highway 77. No one was home at the time the fire started and no one was hurt.
State fire marshal's investigators believe the fire started in the home's laundry room because of an electrical short. They're calling it an accident.
The home is not a total loss, but it is unlivable. The local Red Cross chapter is helping the family get back on its feet.
