Chipley city officials have resolved their land riff with Washington County.
In the late 90's Washington County and the city of Chipley swapped some land. The county used its new property to build a new jail.
The Washington Holmes Technical Center was already using the city's new land for its truck driving school. The school had a 25-year lease at a dollar a year.
The lease ended in 2000.
Recently Chipley officials told the school they wanted to raise the rent a whole lot and that put the truck driving program in jeopardy, but now there's a compromise.
The school will move out of its current location. The city of Chipley is giving the school another piece of land nearby, and the school district will pay for a new building.
Once the land survey is completed, the city will quit claim the property over to the school board.
