A Louisiana girl has enrolled at a Ft. Walton Beach elementary school, a school she actually helped after Hurricane Ivan struck the Florida Panhandle last year.
Little Alexis Dupuy raised $1,700 in her New Orleans suburb last year for St. Mary's School in Okaloosa County which was damaged by Ivan.
Now the Ft. Walton Beach school is paying back the nine-year-old fourth grader.
She is among 44 children who have enrolled so far at St. Marys after being forced from their homes by Hurricane Katrina.
Alexis will be studying at the school until she and her family can go back to their Louisiana home which is damaged but still standing.
