Hospital Ratings Now Online

Anyone with a computer and an Internet connection can now get the dirt on Florida hospitals.

Agency for Health Care Administration Secretary Alan Levine unveiled a new Web site Tuesday that gives statistics for every healthcare facility in the state.

The figures include the mortality rate for high risk procedures and the percentage of patients who pick up an infection while they're in the hospital.

Levine says they have to carefully consider the reports on the Web site.

"Medical errors and bad outcomes, death even, can happen even when the hospital and the doctors have done everything right. You can't control sometimes for a bad outcome."

The Web site also includes a list of average charges, so you can shop around for the best deal on healthcare in your home town.
