Forty-eight-year-old William W. Brantley of Tallahassee is charged with holding up the Prosperity Bank in the Wal-Mart Plaza on 23rd Street a few minutes after noon.
He indicated to bank tellers he was armed but never displayed a weapon.
A witness saw him flee the bank and got a description of the getaway car.
A Bay County sheriff's deputy spotted the vehicle several minutes later on Highway 77.
The deputy and the Sheriff’s Department helicopter followed him down State Road 20 where spike strips were put out.
He eventually stopped on a nearby dirt road in Washington County off Highway 20 where he was captured.
In addition to the local bank robbery, the getaway car Brantley was driving had been stolen in Tallahassee.
