Registered voters in Holmes County will get a chance to decide on the future of hospital care in their county in a first ever type of voting.
This will be a mail-in election. The supervisor of elections’ office in Bonifay mailed the ballots out Wednesday.
It's a simply "yes" or "no" vote on a referendum allowing Holmes County Hospital Corporation to amend its charter.
The amendment will allow the hospital in Bonifay to increase the amount of money it is allowed to borrow or sell bonds in order to construct a new hospital.
A yes on the referendum would fund the construction of the new facility without putting any burden on the taxpayers.
This is Holmes County's first mail-in ballot election.
