Deportation Delayed

A Filipino family living in Bay County’s eastside was not deported Friday.

Danny Salvador and his family came to Bay County from the Philippines seven years ago in search of the American Dream. They have been able to stay here on visitor’s visa.

In that time, Danny has become an integral part of the Springfield United Methodist Church working as a youth leader, a mentor and as an accomplished musician.

His daughter is a straight A student in the Rutherford High School I-B program.

All of the family members are hard working in the community.

But U-S Immigration officials say it is time for the family to go back to the Philippines. Friday was supposed to have been the day they left the country.

But, the Salvador’s have hired an immigration attorney who told NewsChannel Seven the appeals process should take several months. So, the family remains in Bay County but no one knows for how long.
