A new assembly plant is coming to Washington County and bringing several jobs with it.
Eco Lifestyles Homes out of Illinois has confirmed that it intends to build a plant in the Tommy Industrial Park in Chipley.
The president of Eco Lifestyles Homes says the decision to come to Chipley was largely based on the warm welcome they received from the Chamber of Commerce and also the industrial park.
The company projects that they could hire as many as 400 people in the next two years, and by 2012 that number could double.
Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ted Everett is glad to have the company coming to Washington County.
Ted Everett said, "In today's economic financial times this is a huge thing for Washington County. We need the jobs as does the whole region and we're very excited about eco homes deciding to come to Chipley, FL.”
Most of the jobs at the plant will include light assembly, but there will be jobs that require more skilled workers. They expect the plant to be operational by this fall.
