Members of the Bay County Sheriffs Office were honored Wednesday morning for their contributions to the office and the community.
Sheriff Frank McKeithen, along with other local law enforcement agencies, joined together at the sheriff's office on Highway 77 to honor the men and women who were killed in the line of duty locally over the years.
Accompanied by traditional bagpipe music, the Sheriff's Office Honor Guard gave a 21 gun salute. And, Sheriff McKeithen placed a wreath at the monument.
McKeithen also awarded employees for their dedicated service. Investigator Mitch Pitts was named Deputy of the Year. Gareth Majors was honored as employee of the year , and Bill Benge is the 2007 volunteer of the year.
