Cedar Grove Police Chief Guy Turcotte requested to the Cedar Grove Commission Tuesday night that he needs one more officer and a few more dispatchers.
Two of his current officers are being shipped overseas for military duty and are only going to be gone for about a month.
Turcotte requested to the commission that he advertise the officer position.
However, commission members want other municipalities to fill the spots until the two officers come back.
Turcotte just wants to have a full staff. "But we do have one open position for a police officer that was recently vacated back early part of April. So obviously we want to keep our staff full to better serve our community," he said.
Commissioner Tony Brannen added Turcotte could recruit from the Police Academy as in years past, instead of advertising the position to the public.
