The main attraction at Falling Waters State Park is, of course, the waterfall.
To get there, visitors have a few different trails to choose from. You could take the sinkholes trail. It leads you along a boardwalk surrounded by ferns, allowing you to see the park's sinkholes along the way.
"Sinkholes are pretty impressive. The waterfall was not a waterfall today. It was more of a trickle, but it was still very pretty," said Lois Rozman, a park visitor.
A few good rains will bring the waterfall back to normal, which is the tallest in Florida at 100 feet.
"This was beautiful, especially an early morning walk. This would be perfect," said Rudy Rozman, another park visitor.
On the way back try the wiregrass trail, a dirt path lined with tall trees. Once you've completed your walk the park offers plenty of other activities. There are playgrounds for the children, and plenty of picnic areas surround a pristine lake in the center of the park.
"Nice weather, blue sky, and it was very peaceful. We were the only ones out here this morning so far," said Lois.
Falling Waters State Park is open from 8 a.m. to sunset. Admission is $4.00 a carload. You can also rent a campsite or pavilion.
The park is located three miles south of Chipley, off State Road 77 on State Road 77A. You can contact the park at (850) 638-6130.
