Most of the early birds were looking to buy ammunition since stocks in other stores in town have been depleted. After opening remarks and official ribbon cutting ceremony customers were welcomed into the store.
The opening of the newly renovated store has created around 150 new jobs for the area and will hopefully bring more foot traffic to the shopping center.
"I believe it will at least get us 300 to 350 thousand dollars a year in the city. And it will attract more people to this shopping center, so there sales will go up also," said Panama City Mayor Greg Burdnicki.
Even though Walmart limited customers to 3 boxes of ammo each, by Wednesday afternoon the shelves were nearly empty.
