It was a bittersweet Mother's Day for a Wewahitchka woman who had to say good-bye to her youngest son.
Justin Suber's U.S. Army platoon was just stationed in Iraq this past December, but the 19-year-old was granted a short leave to be the best man in his brother's wedding.
Although he had to return Sunday, he was sent off by a large group of family and friends. His mother Angie says both her boys are in the military and she couldn't ask for anything better.
Angie Suber said, "9/11 is what caused all this and I just wish people wouldn't forget. We kind of forget why they're over there."
Angie describes her son as compassionate, kind person with a big heart. And just before leaving Justin gave his mother a necklace, balloons and flowers.
One of his mother's co-workers says Angie was a strong disciplinarian in their life and it's paying off today. She says she's never seen a boy as nice and polite as Justin.
Justin said, "I love my mama a lot and I'm gonna miss her a lot and miss my whole family and be back soon."
Justin's mom tells us he was recently chosen to be his sergeant's lead gunmen. However, the promotion doesn't surprise her.
She says, "He lives for hunting and fishing, so now it's paying off for the good of our country."
Justin’s not expected to return home again until March of next year.
