The parents of two men involved in the shooting of a police informant say their sons were set up. 23 year-old Rachel Hoffman was murdered last week. Tallahassee police aren’t answering many questions about how Ms. Hoffman got involved with the men.

Rachel Hoffman was working as an informant for Tallahassee Police. She was suppose to meet her marks at a park and instead went somewhere else.

Johnny Devine, an attorney for Hoffman’s family say she should have never been put in such a dangerous situation.

“They knew they would be armed because she was sent there to purchase a firearm, which she has had no experience in.”

David McCranie of the Tallahassee Police Department says Hoffman was used because of her past run in’s with the law.

“Rachel was already involved in illegal narcotics. She had already been arrested for 20 grams of marijuana.”

Karey Freeman, the stepfather of one of the two men involved in the murder of the police informant is shedding tears of remorse.

“We would not wish this on anyone. I’m very sorry.”

“Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the murder case. Whether or not the sting operation was handled properly will be left up to police to decide.”

The mayor has not yet called for an outside investigation. The suspects’ stepfather and father-in-law says the two were targeted while working at this car detail shop. He says the victim coerced the two men into finding drugs for her to buy

“This young lady kept coming by and she kept telling them, that this is going to be an easy deal and this is just a transfer, ‘I can get the money if you can get the stuff.’”

Neither suspect has been charged with murder… yet

To Ms. Hoffman’s family and friends, please accept my deepest condolences and heartfelt regret for your loss. The pain and suffering Ms. Hoffman and you have been forced into by those sworn to protect us is inexcusable. This heinous and absolutely unnecessary tragedy will not be forgotten. There is no excuse for this. The shameful unfounded defense offered by the authorities attempting to shift the tragedy of their own incompetent actions to the victim is nothing short of reprehensible. This story should outrage all of Florida and all the USA. Florida has some of the toughest drug laws in the country. I’ve seen our ridiculous drug policy cause tragedy, corruption, waste of resources, harm to citizens and society beyond imagination and once again needless death. There’s a growing movement to change this but we must all take action or tragedy will continue. Visit the site referenced below and get on their mailing list. Take civic actions that will make a difference when they notify you. Sending an email or making a phone call to your elected representatives can do more good than you might think. If not now, when? If not you, who? Enough is enough! “Just Say Know” is working on your behalf and they deserve your financial and civic action support. Just shaking your head and saying “that’s a shame” will not stop this.

The cops need to be held accountable for their actions, and it's time that the nation realizes that this is what happens when you force peaceful people into the world of the black market.
