Freedom of Speech

I think it is very wrong for this to contiinue going on like it is. It has caused a big problem for everyone!! Homosexuals have the freedom of speech but homophobes dont? that is wrong in every way!! Mr. Davis as well as the whole staff of PDL has put up with alot from this gay stuff!! Heather isnt even a homosexual but she wants to stand up for them and ruin her senior year because they might make us wear uniforms!! Its all stupid and its an abomination to GOD!! Read the Bible!!! All homosexuals will NOT enter the gates of Heaven!! GO GOD!!!! not heather!!!

these people don't have a clue as to what is going on. the case started because a child went to mr. davis with a complaint of being harassed. if he had taken care of the other kids & their bullying it would never have gone this far. if the kid wasn't gay & was being teased because she was overweight would he have told her to let it go & suggest losing weight? no i think not. i think to much religion is brought into the school system in holmes county. god is great & i am a firm believer but i also believe that people can use their authority to push their beliefs on to other people. i feel that this is what mr. davis enjoys. this isn't the only problem at this school. i think it starts with who you are & what you can get away with. pdl has some wonderful teachers & employees but i have seen & heard alot of things since i've been in this community & if things were investigated i don't know if pdlh would remain under the same officials. proud parent of kids with rights!!! go heather

Holmes' County Parent: If you think this case was based on hearing their names on the 10 o'clock news or the fact they wanted special rights, I suggest you go back and read the article, as well as the constitution again! These students stood up for something that was given to them by the constitution, yet was taken away due to ignorance and a bibilical beliefs. Freedom of speech is the basis and a very key amendment that allows Americans to voice their views, as well as thoughts, through not only vebral communication but also non-verbal. As a former gay student that grew up and went to school in a similar setting (Wewahitchka), I stand up and applaud Heather and the other students for standing up for themselves, their beliefs and their rights! I would like to suggest to you, "Holmes County Parent" that you sit in on some of the same history and civic classes as these courageous student are taking! G.P Heather and supporting students!!!

I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN SAME COMMUNITY AS DAVID DAVIS. DON'T PARTICULARLY LIKE THE MAN. BUT I HAVE TO GIVE HIM CREDIT, HE IS 10000 TIMES THE MAN AS RICHARD SMOCK. CAN NOT SEE HOW HE CAN UPHOLD THIS KIND OF PERVERSION IN SCHOOL SYSTEM.IT IS NO WONDER OUR SOCIETY AND NATION IS SO SCREWED UP WITH THE PERFECT FOOLS WE HAVE TELL US WHAT TO DO. THERE IS ONE THING I KNOW FOR A FACT IS THAT OLD RICHARD IS GOING TO BEND HIS OLD KNEE AND CONFESS THAT HE WAS WRONG BEFORE THE ULTIMATE JUDGE. THANK YOU

I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU BECAUSE I KNOW HOW MRS. JOHNSON IS AND SHE WOULD NOT PUT UP WITH ANY OF IT! I GO TO PDL AND IT HAS CAUSED ALOT OF CONTROVERSY HERE,MY FRIENDS AND I THINK THAT ITS STUPID AND WE ARE SICK AND TIRED OF HEARING ABOUT IT BECAUSE WE ARE STRAIGHT. WE KNOW THAT OUR PRINCIPLE IS A CHRISTIAN AND HE, LIKE US, DOES NOT LIKE THE FACT THAT THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON. WE HAVE HAD PEOPLE COME UP TO US AT SCHOOL TO ASK IF WE SUPPORT GAYS AND WE SAID NO. WE ARE AT SCHOOL TO LEARN AND THIS HAS CAUSED TROUBLE.

After working in the Franklin County School System for more than 25 years, I've seen many changes in the clothing students wear. I feel that a student should come to school to get an education not to advertise whether they are gay or straight. In my opinion all students should have to wear uniforms. I applaud Mr. Davis.

I don't particulary agree with confederate flag shirts. (A symbol of hate and fear in my eyes) However I respect another persons right to wear it if they so choose. Students in this school are permitted to wear shirts with the confederate flag why can't students wear shirts in support of gays and lesbians? And why would a principal whose JOB it is to protect ALL students tell a student that is going to him for help (because she has been teased about being gay) just to not tell anyone she is gay?? I would think he would realize how quickly something like teasing a classmate about being gay could escalate into something so much worse. What would Mr. Davis had done had those same kids later on that day beaten that student because she was gay? I am proud of Heather Gillman and all of her classmates for standing up for the rights of their fellow students because their principal sure isn't. Shame on you Mr. Davis!

My child attends Holmes County High School. There are alot of so called "gays" that attended HCHS but there as never been the kind of controversey that this act has caused. So what Heather's cousin and friends are gay that doesn't give them any more rights than it does my child who is straight. The school board policy is very strict and straight forward on dress codes and so forth. I would like to see the ones causing all these problems come to Bonifay and stand up to Mrs. Johnson. She wouldn't bat an eye before suspending them. My child has attended different functions at PDL and has been amazed at the difference in how things are tolorated when they are both Holmes County Schools. (dresses at prom and music played etc.)ie same code of conduct book. I hope the judge will think about all the students who will be affected by his decision because it will eventually trickle down to all the kids who are here for education, not to hear their name on the 10 o'clock news. Yea! Mr. Davis!
