Congress is poised to investigate what role speculators are playing in rising gas prices. When Governor Charlie Crist was Attorney General he called oil executives on the carpet twice. Drivers still want answers.

Ashley McKeen can no longer afford to go see her family because of high gas prices.

“I use to go home every other weekend. We’re a pretty close family, but I can’t do that anymore.”

Gas prices are so high, this delivery truck driver only drives while working. When Ira Haggs hangs up his work keys, he grabs handle bars.

“I just ride a bike. I don’t even have a car anymore.”

The prices keep climbing. The price at this Tallahassee station was 10 cents cheaper just six days ago. Panama City stations are even worse where the price of gas Monday jumped 10 cents a gallon just Monday afternoon

Some US lawmakers are calling for an investigation into the record oil prices. While Governor Charlie Crist was Attorney General he met with oil executives twice. No action was taken following the meetings.

“You hold hearing to see what kind of evidence you might uncover and I applaud the congress’s efforts to do that.”

Drivers like Carolyn Hazelwood want answers, now.

“There’s just confusion as to why the gas is so high. I hear so many different opinions from so many different kinds of people that I have no idea as to what the real reason is and quiet frankly I would like a real answer.”

Finding real answers is a sentiment now being shared by drivers and lawmakers. Experts expect gas to hit the four dollar mark by the end of summer.

i think everyone in theb united states should pick a weekend out of each month and NOT purchase any gas. stay home go for walks whatever just show the oil companies how much it hurts. every driver should gas out so lets pick a date to start

OPEC used to control the price of gas, now Wall Street does. Is there a difference? I don't think so. Investors are also producers. The US should demand all oil be sold directly to the government where they will refine it in state refineries. The oil industry is totally corrupted by foreign investors who are intent on destroying the world for ALLAH'S glory. Our Government allowed this to happen and the only solution is to nationalize the oil industry and institute a rationing program until things improve.

Congress is worried about baseball, when their real job should be to protect the security of the United States.Right now Gas prices will make crime in the U.S. increase where no one will be safe. People on minimum wage might as well stay home they sure can not afford to buy Gas. The ones that can go to work will be paying those people on low wages to stay home. Guess what, we do not have that many people in the U.S. Gas, Food, Electricity, everything we buy will increase. Congress needs to come back to earth, if they are trying to make us a third world country they are sure doing a good job. I'm sure base ball will take care of it self, after all no one will be able to afford the price of a ticket. I'm sure the people in Florida want to drill in the Gulf, Our two Senators need to start thanking about the U.S. instead of lining their pockets, if you know what I mean!

Let's be realistic. Anyone who has stock in oil will not bend over backwards to check into anything to get answers. Until people actually do something and make a stand for themselves as far as oil prices go, we will keep be suckered into paying high gas prices. So expect to keep hearing the same whining and complaining when the gas prices hit 10.00 a gallon next summer. It will be no one elses fault but our own!

Confusion about gas prices. U.S. is not producing because of environmentalists control politicians.

see if youll post this one? enviromentalist are destroying america. there hasnt been a gas refinery built since 1971, why? enviromentalist pressure the govt. to regulate so much it isnt worth the trouble, if they do get past all the hoops gas comp. need to jump through it take 7-8 yrs from the start to finish. we could have all the oil in the world but with only a handful of refineries, it doesnt help. build oil refineries neucular power plants and drill everywhere, to heck with the enviromentalist!! they are one of the biggest problems in this country!!
