Cedar Grove commissioners are getting closer to dissolving their town. Several motions at their regular meeting Tuesday, seem directed at dismantling the city a piece at a time.
Police Chief Guy Turcotte asked the commission to approve a new hire, because his office is short one police officer and one dispatcher. Instead, Commissioner Janet Beier asked Chief Turcotte and his officers to keep a minute by minute log of their actions while on duty, for the next 30 days, before they consider hiring anyone.
Also, Commissioner Mary Ann Gardner made a motion, asking the interim city attorney to talk to Sheriff Frank McKeithen about the possibility of the Bay County Sheriff's Office taking over the police service in Cedar Grove. That motion passed, 3 to 2.
The commissioners have a workshop scheduled for next Tuesday with the city attorney, to discuss the entire dissolution process.
