School board members moved forward Wednesday with the Newpoint Bay High School development by approving the charter.
Newpoint Bay Charter High School will open up this fall in Panama City.
It is located in the back of the Corporate Park Shopping Center, which is at the corner of 23rd Street and 23rd Street Plaza.
Newpoint Bay's director says students will have many real-world opportunities through the school's technology based curriculum.
They will have daily interaction with computers and programs they wouldn't otherwise get to work with.
One day a week, students will also take part in a day-long internship to learn real world experiences.
"We have well over our projected enrollment that's signed up online. And we're at 80% capacity for formal registration, so the response from the community has been very good. It's so early yet before school starts," said Newpoint Bay Director Carla Lovett.
The website to register for the charter school is newpointschools.org. If you're interested you need to sign up soon, because they're already at 80% capacity. They will be accepting 150 students for fall.
