You've probably driven by it a thousand times, and wondered what it was. The Museum of Man in the Sea is located off Back Beach Road, just past Highway 79.

It may surprise you to find out it houses one of the most extensive collections of man's exploration of the world's deep seas. At least that's what visitors say.

"They express surprise that 'I didn't know there was all that stuff in there'. They drive into the parking lot and see what's outside the parking lot and they're enthralled by that. And then they come in and tour around," said Executive Director Doug Hough.

Once inside, you'll see diving artifacts dating back hundreds of years. Many came from the experimental dive unit at the local Navy base right here in Panama City Beach.

The building may be small, but the amount of history packed inside can't be found many other places.

"You really can't see what’s in the museum. It is not duplicated anywhere else in the world," added Hough.

The museum offers senior and AAA discounts. Regular price is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children. It’s open seven days a week from 10AM to 4PM.
